I found a great beginners guide to WordPress theme development the other day and decided to give it a read. It teaches a theme virgin (like myself) the basics and fundamentals of any WordPress theme.
The guide touches the surface of basic theme development and describes very simply the number of different files that make up a WordPress page and how they all fit together. The guide also teaches the user how to install a local PHP and MySQL server on your machine and as I use a Mac, I needed to install the ‘MAMP’ application for WordPress development and testing purposes.
All in all, the WPSHOUT Beginning WordPress Theme Development guide is a great starter for people who are serious about creating there own WordPress themes.

Where do I go from here? Well, my next step I shall attempt to migrate a static HTML website to WordPress! I’ll let you know how I get on.
